As many of you know, Bryan and I absolutely loved wedding planning. We currently have the post-wedding blues and are so sad that it is behind us!
We’ll be the first to admit that we complained incessantly about wedding planning and gave our parents “ughs” and eye-rolls every time they asked us to make a decision. We’re just not really the event-planning type. It’s not our thing!
With that said, there was one thing that we truly enjoyed doing during this time in our lives. It was something that literally made us laugh until we cried and actually made us excited for the big day. Best of all, it was our little secret that we snuck away to and hid from our friends and family.
When a dance lesson at All About Dance was on the calendar, it gave us something to look forward to. It was one stress-free hour where we put away our phones and learned how to dance together. It was a time that made us feel confident and poised when we needed it most. Bryan might not admit it but I KNOW he enjoyed it.
The owner and instructor, Jessica, was the one who made it such a wonderful experience for us. She made us feel so at ease and assured us a thousand times that we weren’t as bad as we thought we were.
My favorite thing about Jessica is that she put the emphasis on making us look comfortable. We all knew we wouldn’t look like professional ballroom dancers, but that wasn’t the point. She gave us the confidence to dance in front of all of our family and friends in a way that looked natural.
She also kept telling us that we looked so in love and that was all that mattered. I loved how genuine she was and how much experience she had with (soon-to-be) bride and grooms.
The most eye-opening thing about the whole experience is how terrible we would have looked without those dance lessons! We finally know how to properly dance with each other and without Jessica, we would have been swaying back and forth like 7th graders.
Looking back, the one thing I’ll truly miss about wedding planning will be these few hours where Bryan and I tried something new and had fun together. I don’t know that we would have stayed sane without it!
Thank you, again Jessica for making this such a fun and memorable experience for us. Our friends and family were so impressed by our dance moves and we couldn’t have done it without you!
