Thanks for checking out Soul Cookies! Here’s the deal.
I started this blog when I was 25 years old. Initially, this blog was about being more transparent on the internet, and in a lot of ways, that’s still true.
At the time, however, I really struggled with my relationship with food and my body, and while I tried to be honest about it, I didn’t understand that dieting wasn’t going to fix my problems. In reality, dieting made everything worse and I was eventually diagnosed with an eating disorder a year later– just six months before my wedding.
So, I started sharing that journey here, and eventually, my content became very different.
I’m still Taryn, a millennial New York native living in the great city of Chicago. I’m still passionate about photography, travel, social activism, and chocolate. What’s changed is my love for the body acceptance movement and my disdain for diet culture at large. Some of my older posts are about dieting and weight loss, but with authenticity as my #1 virtue, I’ve decided to keep that content here to see how much I’ve grown.
